I stumbled onto powder coating back in the early 1980's and my experiences have been very good if the parts are prepped well. I have had numerous sets of automotive and motorcycle wheels powder coated. Paint cannot compare to the durability and long lasting quality finish.
I had my rims done in Mandarin for my bumble bee R1100S and more recently I completely redid my R1200S frame and all to match the ceramic coated headers in a titanium metallic matte finish.
The only negative point I would like to add about powder coated items is that the stuff is a son of a ***** to remove. I have had parts on my car coated that I later decided to modify (i.e. weld) and each time the welder has pitched a fit when he had to remove the finish so that he could weld on clean metal.
I guess what I am saying is check your color match three times and be sure that you plan to keep that color a long time.
