Oh, I have thought of that as well. Around here if you ask for a permit for a pit to work on cars it is denied because bad fumes can accumulate and the groundwater might be contaminated. So you have to call it a storm shelter. Then it is approved post haste.

A pit is OK for doing oil changes but I really want to get the weight off of the wheels most of the time. Constant trips in and out of a pit gets old real fast.
