Yes, Jason, downshifts to 2nd on those corners are pretty much necessary in my car...if I left it in 3rd there's not enough pulling power coming out. And after running it up to around 6500 rpm in 2nd, it's then mostly full throttle in 3rd til the next curve...then back down to 2nd. The wider curves I was doing in 3rd I guess. Your turbo gives you a much broader torque band than my 2.7. With my car there's lots of rowing on a run like that to keep the revs up and stay in the torque band. It's all part of the fun of driving a lesser-powered car fast!
The car I learned to drive on was a 36 hp VW Beetle, so I learned early how to have fun with less hp!
