I am trying to re-install the original power seats in my 964, but there seems to be a length of wiring missing on the driver's side. The seat has power fore-aft, power height front and back, and power recline.
Attached to the floor (but removable) there is a longer female connector with 2 rows of 6 sockets (left connector in photo). Sockets 1,2 and 4 are wired to brown, red, and purple respectively. The multimeter says red is hot, and brown is ground. I don't know about purple.
Attached to the seat there is a shorter male connector with pins (right connector in photo. Has a M. Benz logo)). 2 pins are wired to red, and 2 are wired to brown.
The local Porsche dealer said I should attach the female connector from the floor directly to the male connector on the seat. This does not work, as the pins are too large for the sockets and spaced too far apart. The passenger side has a length of wiring with connectors on each end, bridging the 2 connectors at the seat and floor, so I think the driver's side should too. The dealer said that part doesn't exist.
If I want to just add bullet connectors to some wire and re-create the missing bridge, what do I splice together? Join the 2 reds from the seat and attach them to the single red on the floor? Do the same for the browns? The passenger side definitely had 3 pins going into the connector on the floor. I didn't look closely while installing it but I'm guessing the third was for the purple, but where does it come from?
Thanks.
