So we have this teaching zoo here at Santa Fe - one of the few in the country.
We've got a pair of eagles, all sorts of reptiles/amphibians, several species of monkeys, otters, tree kangaroos, various birds, etc. including several endangered species (Key Beach Mice, Galapagos Tortises, terrapins, etc)
Been asking about streaming them to the web for 15 years... no interest from teh Guys That Wear Ties, so no budget.
Our eagles are old, and haven't had a clutch in 4 or 5 years... but they popped one out a few months ago. Got a budget now
Have a capture box (high end desktop w/ linux), various bits and bobs of networking equipment, weather proof cams, etc. All here and on my desk except the actual cameras which arrive Friday.
So... in a week or so, I'll be posting some interesting links to live video
Each camera set up is close to 1k in hardware costs, and for $20/mo I'm getting 2tb of bandwidth transfer, enough to let about 500 folks view at any one time. Anyone want to be a corporate sponsor? Right now I've got equipment for 4 cameras...
