I am not a doctor, but I did take Chantix 6 years ago. It worked for me. I haven't smoked since. That was the first and only time I attempted to quit. It was also the first time that I really wanted to quit.
Wanting to quit plays a big part in your success.
The only side effect that I had were very vivid and surreal dreams. No nightmares. I wasn't all that miserable either. I attribute that to my being happy for every day that I was smoke free.
My insurance did not cover the prescription but it worked out to be less than a pack a day smoking habit.
You can quit. Find a method that works best for you. A lot of ex smokers here for advice, etc.
