I get why they do it but there have been occasions where it drives me crazy. Once I ordered from a restaurant next to my hotel for pick up. I had ordered from them the night before. Well, I walked over with just my hotel key and credit card. They asked for ID and refused to let me pay until I retrieved my ID. Seriously? I just ordered here yesterday and I could understand if my bill was over $50 but it was $19!!!! Let's just say I was a little irritated. I had to walk back to the hotel and back to the restaurant. ANNOYING!
I had this happen when I didn't have cash on me and just came back from a business trip and forgot my ID in my briefcase. They didn't let me purchase books that totaled less than $20! Really? If I stole a credit card, I would be definitely charging something different than $16 in children's books at the local Barnes and Nobles! Good grief!
