You used to have to show it all the time. Now, you don't even have to SIGN if its less than $25 in a lot of cases. Another way to get us all dependent on plastic money. I use my debit card as "credit" all the time. Recently, they picked up some fraud charges and halted the card...didn't call me though. I was out to lunch with somene and it didn't work. Kinda embarrassing.

I don't think showing an ID is such a big deal. I used to be a cashier taking checks and you had to see ID and a credit card and write it down on the check. AND check corporates bad check list.
