Thankfully the flood hasn't directly affected me. I have been to a number of the badly damaged areas for work.
High River was hit hard. As of Saturday morning most of the water downtown has been removed or dissipated on its own. The high water mark on the buildings is about four feet above grade.
In Bowness, all the (million dollar plus) homes backing along the river, have some major damage as well. At the street, the water was about two to three feet deep at the height of the flood. In the back yard of one of those houses, this gazebo was completely submerged an hour and a half after I took this shot. This is Thursday afternoon, moments before the evacuation notice.
Canmore and Exshaw are worse than anything you've seen on TV. Just an example from Exshaw...
Friday evening, Southbound Deerfoot Trail was down to only one lane out of three at Southland Drive. The remaining were under water.
