You can bifurcate your claim with the other person's insurance company. Tell them you want to settle the car damage issue now and will settle the injury/pain and suffering issue when you have a better idea as to any possible injuries. This is how I generally deal with the insurance companies for my clients. They are used to dealing with bifurcated claims.
They are also becoming more acquainted with "diminished value" claims, but the onus is on you to come up with a number.
