Oh deer...

While visiting a friend several days ago, a doe was perfectly comfortable munching on clover in his yard in the middle of the afternoon (not an unusual sight anymore....overpopulation). Talked to him a while ago, and he said the doe was back today with FOUR fawns in tow with her. Now I'm no deer expert, but I've personally never seen more than one Bambi at a time with does. A quick search shows they typically have 1 or 2, and 3 would be pretty rare. Any deer experts here...is four a freak of nature, or do does travel in groups (maybe the other does were still in the woods)? I had a couple of nicely racked bucks and at least one female (that I could see) munching at my back fence a few months ago (last fall, before the rut began) and my uncle, a deer expert, told me that was perfectly normal. I'd bet I've seen more deer over the last 3-4 years than I've seen in my entire life
