Just because you did from the turbo back on the exhaust doesn't mean you didn't farkle the waste gate plumbing. i personally would not run Autothority Chips OR their banjo bolt thing. That is asking for trouble. It is increasing the boost by limiting the air pressure available to the cyclic valve to control it. The 944 Turbo's I hear of blowing head gaskets are usually Autothority chips and banjo and it is from guess what, overboosting.

When I chipped my 944 Turbo S I did the Weltmeister chips because of the reputation of the autothority stuff. They came with a wastegate spring instead of a restricted banjo bolt. The only problem I had with overboost was after putting in a Lindsey Boost Enhancer. Also after the over boosting I ended up losing my head gasket a little later. Despite what they say, the LBE does basically the same thing that the restricted banjo bolt does. I work for a valve company and prototyped up a valve that did exactly what Lindsey claims their LBE does and guess what. There was no noticeable difference in power or spool up from stock.

When I got my 89 951 it had a tweaked up turbo and the Autothority MAF and chips. The Autothority setup ran too lean when accelerating at partial throttle. The only time it wasn't too lean was AFTER the WOT switch kicked in. Ended up with bent wrist pins, and stretched crank girdle from the predetonation. It had o-ringed head gasket so the next weak link fail point was the crank and wrist pins. It was very very quick though.

I wrote up the specs for an electronic boost controller that would have been really cool, but the Lindsey rebuild on my 89 cratered, I was so frustrated I sold it and got the 928.

Oh, and I assumed you aready went to a doctor because of the uric acid test. You aren't playing doctor on yourself are you? Isn't that bad juju?
