A trip to Oz? Yes, a must do along with New Zealand and I have never been to either. I am an avid scuba diver but the GBR is cause for some caution. I worry more about tiny paralyzing box jellies you can't see than large sharks and eels you can see.
Tweeze if you are serious about getting scuba certified I know a guy.

Ya, the whole everything in OZ wants to kill you is kind of a turnoff. I hear for reef diving that Roatan off the coast of Honduras is incredible, and less deadly critters down there....
And ya we've been talking about getting her cert done. She should be able to knock it out no problem there in PHX and then go anywhere to dive. I need to loan her my book so she can get a headstart on the reading, even though the book work is pretty damn simple.
