There's a pretty notorious incident where I work where a contractor did just that. He was dialed into a meeting and forgot to put his phone on mute. From what I understand, it went something like this:
Project Manager: Danielle, can we get a status on your action item?

Project Manager: Is everyone on the phone okay? It sounded like a gunshot.
Contractor: Oh, sorry, forgot to put my phone on mute. There was a 7 point buck in my backyard.
