Installed height tool

You to can make this tool to check installed height. This is set by using shims that are available at almost any autoparts store or machine shop. The spec is given for your engine, eg 1.417". usually differen't for intake and exhaust. Look it up.

Once you have this number you can begin. Make this tool using a piece of welding rod. YOu can weld, glue or solder the two pieces togather as shown. Make the length exact by using a file and micrometer.

The shim is the thing under the valve spring base.

Place the shims on the head, place the vlave spring base on the shim, install the valve, and place the top of the spring holder plus valve keepers and hold in place.

Now using the tool you have made measure the installed height. Select shims until the tool just fits between the top and bottom.

This tool will save you big bucks and you can say you did it yourself.
