Got a big cotton wood in my yard, it's not the one that makes the fuzz. It does shed limbs and leaves all the time. No roots or root shoots. Dog dug up a toad at the base of the trunk. About a foot and a half deep 8 inches wide and a foot long. Within a few hours the hole filled with water. Stayed full of water all summer, even during very dry late summer. Found it's some kind of capillary effect. The cotton wood gets it's water from very deep and survivalist say to look for cotton woods and dig a hole at the base to find water.
The tree I dislike the most in my yard is a sweet gum. It puts off thousands of inch diameter spiney balls. Can't go bare foot in my yard without considerable pain, and that was well before the roofing nail threat.
