Websites now-a-days load in various tracking services via JavaScript. Many of these use their own code-base or APIs. Others use open-source APIs like JQuery. It is know that older versions of JQuery can be finicky and get stuck in 'infinite loops' when bad parameters or functions are called.

Best things to do:
1. Get rid of Internet Explorer. It is seriously just a browser to get you online to download a real standards-compliant browser like Chrome or Mozilla Firefox.

2. If you get Firefox, get the following plugins: NoScript & Ghostery.
- NoScript allows per-domain object blocking. That means no JavaScripts being loaded without you white-listing the site. This will speed up your browsing experience IMMENSELY.
- Ghostery disables calls to known tracking services and blocks other invasive elements. Services like AlexaRelated, Omniture (2o7.net), Google Analytics, Dataium, Bing, etc. These are used for marketing, re-marketing, cross-domain activity tracking and user-behavior tracking. These are services used to track down to specific-user trails and activity across the web.

3. If you get Chrome, get AdBlock Plus. Not sure what other privacy-minded plugins are available.

By reducing the number of active 'scripts' on a page - by blocking or disallowing scripts - will ultimately provide a good user-experience for browsing the web.
