I don't think Obama had the goal of driving up the cost of ammo. It was the panicked response to rhetoric after Newtown. There us no evidence that Obama is taking any actions against guns. He is seeking a way to minimize violence like having grade school kids massacred. A worthy use of political capital.
I don't agree on your statement about most liberal pols. Harry Reid is an avid NRA dude. Many others are vets (John Kerry) who undoubtedly have guns. Sure, gun haters would rather they be gone. But so what? I hate drunk driving, but I wouldn't advocate that all cars come with breathalyzer interlocks.
As for me, my addiction to coffee has not been an obstacle. Put 250 rounds down range Saturday.
