Don't know Dean, but lexan alone will be half of glass weight as per my investigation. I would like 25 lbs saved with lexan and maybe another couple in metal. My wiper and hatch lock assembly and defrost wiring gone and should be another couple.
Shaped ducktail this morning for 1.5 hours,
The base angle is better (more vertical as RS Ducktail) another hour or so and ready to create mold with base attachment points. Base of ducktail will be mechanically fastened with screws and 3M 2 part epoxied which i have found to be as strong as weld in bare metal to metal situation.
The base will then be smoothed out or radius-ed to the hatch as the 911RS lid with USG All-Metal body filler and finish filler, etch and build prime etc..
More lightening to do to hatch (drilling), buying lexan today will router lexan using rear glass using it as my router template. I may install aircraft vents to lexan.
If anyone has installed lexan in hatch opening with good results, please advise, I don't want to crack it at attachment points and lose time/$.
Don't want exposed rivets or machine screws at edges of lexan & will be re-installing black aluminum hatch glass trim. Must look like an RS not track car. May remove single wiper and bring back to stock also.
Hatch and hood pins with be black anodized aluminum.
Going to Shore for another week, see you when i have something substantial done.
