My second Porsche...I got it for $1,450 without wheels. I got the wheels in almost perfect condition for $150. The guy had them laying around for a while and I think he just wanted to help out a fellow PCA member. 'Cause that is a ridiculous deal.
The paint job was home-done and peeling badly on the hood and roof so just for looks I sanded them down and painted them with matte spray paint. Looking at this picture makes me miss that car so much. Once I got the electrical issues worked out, it was so much fun to drive. One of those rare five-speed 928's. With no sunroof. It was number 125 from the 1979 model year.
But I couldn't afford to keep it, especially if something broke, so after making it driveable I traded it for this:
I ACTUALLY HAD FUCHS WHEELS FOR THREE WEEKS!
But I sold the 944 for $3,000, a $1,000 profit over what I had into the 928 when I made the trade. At the time my 924S needed some significant repairs, and the 944 needed a new clutch (still drove all right, though), so I had to sell one of them to fix the other.
And this is my current project, when I first brought it home. Since I was already planning to replace the nose panel, headlights, and front valance, the slight front end damage didn't bother me.
