In the early years, the "Ramones" started as a garage band of early computer geeks. Trying to eek out an existence as a garage band they soon needed to make money to buy instruments. They started to sell computer RAM to early computer geeks interested in boosting performance of their homebuilt computers such as the Altair. Taking a creative spin of they alter egos they called themselves the "Ram Ones". Later an announcer at a bar in Poughkeepsie, NY mispronounced their names and the "Ramones" were created.
