Has anyone ever thought to use the bumper "smile" with the fiberglass cap to mitigate the shelf effect?

When you get the front off you will realize the smile will not work.
Also, be sure to secure the fiberglass piece about every 3-4 inches. Since the edges of those pieces are not rolled the weight of the unit will pull it down. This will cause waves in the fiberglass at each mounting point.
I used the industrial rubber strips from McMaster-Carr. I used the 2" wide strip attached to the lip on the bottom of the front bumper cap. This left less than 4" clearance from the ground when installed. The gardening stuff won't work. It is too brittle and i doubt it will sustain air flow at over 100 mph.
I'll try and take some pics this weekend to show what I did.
