When the Border Collie died a few years back, the Kelpie/Heeler cross was so out of sync. When they walked, it was in lockstep. The BC was so aware of the surroundings the K/H never paid much attention to anything except the smells that she encountered. After he had passed she had a very difficult time making the adjustment to only dog status. She would cower when a bird flew overhead for the first couple of weeks. Eventually she adjusted and was fine until spleen cancer took her out as well. Two dogs in two years. Sucks...
