Being a grumpy old man has nothing to do with it. Talent like that is out there still, just way off the radar and mostly out of the commercial eye. It's unfortunate that (for the most part) an artist can no longer evolve
and be a commercial success. Can you imagine Bruno Mars creating a timeless, (still) relevant

The janitor that cleans my office grew up with Marvin; his mom would often watch Marvin after school until his parents came home from work. Every now and then when Carl comes in and we have Marvin on the stereo he’ll offer up a story or two about “back in the day”. Not sure how accurate the stories are, but they’re always entertaining. Sounded like a cool guy who unfortunately let the white powder get the better of him.
