I believe the royal family sustain themselves. There is all that security and whatnot, but no matter what type of government is in existence, there will be that expense.
Frankly, I have always thought that this country would do well by having a figurehead to respect as we motor along through presidents that no one likes. But, alas, the Brits seem to be losing their sense of humor (whatever there was of that) about the monarchy.
The last king like figure we had was JFK. And it worked. It's too bad he had to be president at the same time. Or maybe I should say the last king like dynasty we had was the Kennedys.
So, I wish the young man well. I hope he
gets it as some of the monarchs in the world do. I hope he becomes an inspiration in his time. I hope Prince William can do something by the way of statehood when he takes the crown, but we'll have to see about that. Maybe his principle job will be to try and maintain the protocol.
Tough job in these times. Tougher job to raise the little one for his job.
Lucky sperm club? Maybe, but the little guy's choices are slim. Would you like that? I wouldn't have made the grade.
