Well, if you keep the cover on it, it will always look like you want it too. A lot of guys build cars that are considered totalled but you do end up with a salvage title. Something else to consider.
All it takes is time and mostly time is money. Sometimes it's not.
3 years ago I sold a very tired but good looking '88 911 for 12K. That with the parts from your car might have gone for 20. And it would have had a clean title, albeit with a ton of chassis miles.
Does it ever really pencil out? I don't think so unless you are ruthless.
