How authentic do you want the clubs? :-)
Not Blues per se, but I highly recommend the Green Mill. Old School but safer area.
Any hotel in downtown is safe. Pick your cost. Michigan Ave is the center of downtown on the weekends. The loop is all business and will be empty.
