Yep, tape it and forget it after '79....
Just happen to be building a similar year harness for someone, I delete that wiring and connector for your year of car as it is not needed and is always energized. (So tape it off well)
Mine looks a little different than the one you are working with!
(Probably just the Permatune wiring adapter for the CDI...)
