Buy a set of rings if you don't like them take them off.
Fenton cast iron headers are a nice add on. Do you have two temp gauges or one? the left bank and the right bank ONLY share water in the radiator.
If you run two gauges one on each bank it will give you better info if you're lean or have another problem.
There was a time when my dad bought every flatmotor he could find for a few months. I think that we had 11 or so in the back yard to find 1 worth rebuilding.
I really need to get a video clip of my Dads 40 running it purrs like nothing else.
