Helmut Bott came to Oklahoma City back in the 80s to talk to the WBR Tech Session. He talked about that car. He said he drove it often. That one had a race tuned engine in it. The one they built for Ferry had a de-tuned engine to make it a lot smoother and easier to drive.
Helmut also drove the 959 prototypes back and forth to work as his commuter car. He said the locals never even looked up to pay attention to those cars. When he drove his restored Model-T he got lots of attention and people waving at him.
