Its a beautiful car.. but its mired in the "modded zone". Great strong motor. Nice interior. Love the minilites. BUT... to be a"track car", imho, it still needs brakes (5 lug conversion), seats and a cage. hmm.. thats a big chunk of money to do that
Also.. its not an original car (and, imho, its the original cars, particularly factory 2.0 cars, that occupy the $9-15K range right now.
Its in the middle ground, and most 914 guys, well.. were a cheap group who would rather spend $20K and 10 years building a car like yours than simply cut a check and just start enjoying it!
Despite the age and seemingly large number of 914s I've known over the years with a replaced front clip, it carries a slight stigma to me. If you never told me, I wouldn't have guessed perhaps, but since its out there, its an issue. Now, if this were a factory six, though, it wouldn't hurt so bad because the # of sixes is so small, but a 4? well.. there are more of those out there.
Also consider the time of year.. Some are writing checks to colleges or prep schools or simply enjoying an August vacation.
When you want to trade for an '87 944, let me know!
btw, what size front torsion bars? stock? upgraded? what size front sway bar ? Any rear bar or just stiffer springs? Still a tailshifter or updated to side shifter? Any additional oil cooling?
fwiw, my 1990lb (wet and full of fuel!) '70 with 120hp was fun and harrased a lot more powerful cars.. 150hp sounds like too much fun!
