Ok, I know I started this whole conversation, but I have to say something totally against what I was trying to find out. Today I had the benefit of going up against a Turbo 911 Convertible when I was in my '89 Convertible Mustang that is very mildly modified. At first he was revving his engine and trying to act cool, but when I started to play back, he was terrified!! I admit, my car has a rollcage in it and it can be intimidating, but from what I have seen, he has more horsepower, a engine that was created after a racing legend and supposedly a better handling car!! On I95 in South Florida he took off and we got up to 60 when we both dropped the pedal and I could hear his turbo spool, but he went noplace fast! I had about 5 cars on him when I let go of the pedal, about 100 MPH. He came up to my side and took off after I had already crushed him, poor sport! He followed me to the off ramp where the corner had two lanes. I took the inside and he took the outside, weird seeing that he had a "better handling car" then my $2100 car!! At about 65 around the corner I was pulling away almost as hard as the straight away. So my final decision is to keep my "cheaply made American car" till I can truly find a better car to replace it with. Thank you all so much for the input, but I don't see replacing my car with a more expensive one whos performance is inferior to a car I already have. I am going to be upgrading my current car with a turbo and convert to a bulletproof 5speed. Again, thank you for the information you have all so happily given to me to help me understand and choose a Porsche. Hope to meet you all out on the road someday and maybe then you can run laps around me and change my mind. Till then...........
