We were in Newport last summer to see the smaller AC45s sail as part of the world wide demo races. They had an AC72 out of the water with the sail off for the public to get close too and touch. It was just about all carbon fiber. Lite as a feather and as thin as a piece of cardboard! What was really amazing was getting up close with the Oracle crew whose outfits made them look more like armored Ninja Turtles then the crew of old with blue blazers and ascots!
I have to wonder what old Nat Herreshoff would think of this racing technology today?
