are you forgetting that in this instance the british are just as pursuant as the US in iraq?
if the US was no longer in existance the world economy would fail and take a VERY long time to recover......
what would've happened if the nazi's succeded? hitler although powerfull in his time started somewhere......just as saddam. using your citizens as shields as saddam has been, or murdering those citezens won't fight on his behalf is along the same lines.......only this time and age there are the means to stop it.

if we sat back and watched what happened (like we unfortunately did with rawanda) then the world would NOT be a better place.
either way you look at it it's a catch 22.
murderous regimes, genocide, and bio-warfare does in no way make the world a better place.
this time the US is under threat, which threatens our (yes our) way of life, which in turn does affect the way of your life in your county...... the US contributes so much to the safety of the world that if we did sit back and just watch i can assure you that you would notice negative effects in all the free world. unfortunately that's the way it is......this isn't 400 years ago where you only had to worry about your immediate violent neighbors, this my freind is the 21st century and there is not a damn thing we can do about it.
one of the reasons countries ask for our help is because we ARE the big kid on the block, like it or not. this country has grown over the last 200 years to something very large and powerfull, that is just a fact. it's not saying we're "better" than anyone else, it's just the fact that within the free world a passion of freedom takes hold of all those that experience it and it's something the majority sees worth fighting for to keep it.....for the benifit of everyone. period.
