This is very big for tourism in Northern Spain. People do it on foot, bike and even on horseback, and choose the start point depending on whatever time they have to finish it. The combination of scenery, medieval monuments and personal challenge makes for a unique experience.
The way itself is clearly marked, with sections along modern roads, country trails or even old Roman roads. There is quite a lot of infrastructure built around the way so you can eat or sleep in a wide selection of places and within almost any budget.
I have only done a part myself and found it extremely interesting, so it is definitely on my bucket list.
