My truck is almost always empty, but there are those days I need something it right there. Rent or borrow a trailer and just go through the motions of hooking one up and don't forget parking is also a PITA. I think half way through this exercise, you will realize how valuable is it to not get rid of the truck. Personally, I can't live without a truck. How about keeping the truck around and get a use car with better fuel economy for your kid and friends.
