I believe that it was called a
Citroen-Maserati at the time, subtle distinction.
My dad came very close to buying a new one in 1973, as impractical as he knew it would be, it was just too unbelievably cool not to want. He bought a new V-12 Jag XKE instead, so it really would not have been any worse.
