From what I understand, the 20 or so universities which actually make money from their football programs want to pay the "athlete-students" a stipend. the problem is all the other schools that can't afford it would be at a great disadvantage recruiting wise,etc. Also, do just the football players get it? What about basketball, baseball scholarship players as the income from football would have to pay them also. Would this result in a super NCAA division of just the schools with the big bucks to pay the athletes.
On a side note, I don't know if Manziel is guilty or not but why would be spend hours signing autographs for brokers for nothing knowing they are going to sell them ?? Just out of the goodness of his heart? I don't think so....
