You are right about that, it's a constant struggle deciding between how it was done and how it is best done. I vividly recall the many times I had to convince Spraker of not making it look so pretty while trying to dial-back the workmanship quality in many areas.
Even today, deciding the paint quality level and expense, which I'm told could cost upwards of 20k dollar, I have to keep saying to myself; "this is a race car, not a concourse queen"...
