brake fluid is said to cause corrosion if it gets past the seals (as it is hygroscopic) - seems a bit far fetched to me as it would (should) just get washed off by rain, puddles (which also get the caliper wet)
brake fluid also will not "stay there" like brake paste
I do know that some Volkswagen mechanics (the bane of 356s) will skip brake paste and just use brake fluid... I guess it is no big deal on a VW as the car will break down anyway...
regular grease will drip if used b/c of the high temperatures the caliper reaches
