Just couldn't let this slide. As to this endlessly repeated urban myth of people lining up at airports or train stations to spit on military personnel returning from Viet Nam,
it never happened. Certainly these soldiers' contribution was under-appreciated by many, (and this I regret), but the spitting-party story is a stinking pile of B.S. that is part of right-wing folklore to demonize anti-war protesters. It does not accurately catogorise any anti-war people that I ever met in the '60s, when my parents and millions of others were against the war, although there are certainly nut-cases and jerks on every side of the issue. (As can be seen here at times).
