My great Aunt & Uncle retired and bought a motor home. They had to spend a couple of months at home to remain residents so they would park the thing on a concretee slab and stay home. When they would leave all that was there was a concrete slab that is pretty hard to steal.
Anyway they drove all over the place. They went as far south as the Panama Canal, and all the way to Barrow Alaska. They hit every national park in the USA, and just started over. They did that for over 25 years. This was long before cell phones and GPS. They said you can't get lost if you don't care where you end up.
