Use a thin sheet of Lexan 1/32" or equivalent such as delrin etc. Or a thin sheet of rubber and just make gaskets to go between the two surfaces.
The lift will rub through the paint in less time than you think.
FYI- you can buy sheets of gasket rubber at most auto parts stores. Lexan at most large hardware stores and definitely hobby stores or TAP Plastics.
