Consider the Poraso Pre Shave Cream in green. I does wonders for assuring a soft beard.

I use a DE89 head on a UFO Kaiser Handle. The Astra's are a great blade but my favorite is a Persona Med Blade. I also use an Alum Block and Witch Hazel as post shave.

The wet shave is actually a luxury, at least IMHO. Adds a bit to the morning routine but I enjoy the result.
