Had a Jeep Cherokee, with the 4 liter in-line 6. Driving down I-35 from Blsckwell OK got behind a tractor and trailer that must have been carrying sailboat fuel. Saw he was going really fast and followed with the Jeep speedo way past the 85 peg. According to the miles we covered and the time it took we were doing 140. Had to really concentrate on driving to keep the Jeep on the road.

Did something similar driving to Dallas. Dropped two friends off at OKC Will Rogers airport and hit the highway. Had free tickets because one of the friends worked for American Airlines. Drove because I had an ear infection and Doc said flying would be very painful. As soon as I got on I-35 south got in with a Corvette and a Golf GTI that were going fast. All the way to Dallas the Jeep speedo didn't get below the 85 peg. One friend lived in Apts just south of DFW airport. On a whim on the way to his apt I stopped at the AA terminal. I pulled up just as the two friends were walking out of the terminal to hail a cab. They freaked when they saw me honking and waving.

Mid 70's Buicks are the worst of the GM power steering. The steering wheel was way too easy to turn and you could turn the wheel quite a bit before anything happened to change the direction of the car. I only guess the designers thought that was that luxury land barge feel.
