The more I think about it, the more I think we should have given negotiations more of a chance. What place do we have invading a sovereign country like Iraq? I just can't see how our unilateral action is justified. Surely, given enough time and diplomacy, the government would have capitulated--they seem like pretty reasonable people.
And who are we to claim moral authority? Like we're in some way more
civilized than the Iraqi regime. It's just those right wing fascists that paint such a biased picture of Iraq. I bet if we accept them for what they are--a valid culture that's just, you know, different from ours but not necessarily worse--the world would be a better place. Accepting diversity of different peoples and their customs is important to getting along in the multicultural world we live in.
