An article I read said consultants from the DEA were involved in the meth lab scenes, both for accuracy as well as to censure revealing cooking secrets.
A recent Mythbusters segment questioned some of the chemical concoctions used on the show. I recall they tested the fulminated mercury bomb and the hydroflouric acid "defoliation rinse".
