I had an old VW that the tank was empty ,
I hooked up an electic pump in the back taking the stock pump out of the loop,
put a filter in front of the pump and one after the pump, and ran it to a 1 gallon gas can.
poured fresh fuel in the tank and pumped it out into the can , then put the filtered fuel back in the tank and repeated 3-4 times .
this was to flush the lines that go thru the chassis and get some of the old gunk / dirt off the tank bottom......
probably would have been better if I added some cleaner to the fresh fuel before I started.
I would be worried about clogging the injectors , so even if you clean the tank , flush the lines....
