Sell your Porsches and buy a Miata. Someone's going to hate you for that too. Talk like a Pirate, and see where that gets you.
You problem is that you think they are responding to you, when in reality there is a little subprogram in their minds that is telling them what to think. With more interaction, you could probably win them over.
Ever had someone screw you over in a business deal because they are jealous of the car you drive ? Now THAT'S a real eye opener there. Your neighbors are cupcakes.
BTW, I was driving in the Berkshires a number of years ago, and I saw a really nice old Ferrari convertible out in front of a crappy looking coffee shop. I mean a genuine million dollar car, the kind that would fit in at Pebble Beach. The owner was a really nice guy and very approachable. When I told him how much I liked his car, he told me he was very fortunate to have it.
That is what I tell people about my cars. But it is the people like the Ferrari owner that I would prefer to talk to, and not the twinkies and the cupcakes.
