While changing the accel cable rubber coupler I discovered the link from the engine would not reach the little ball socket. Hummmm , turns out the throttle stops at the butterfly was fouling with the hose clamp screw at the air intake rubber elbow. I was only getting about 2/3 max opening and if I would have stepped harder on the gas pedal it's possible the accel linjkage could get caught behind the stupid hose clamp with a possible blown engine or worse as a consequence.
Moral is, if the clamp is straight back, so its easily accessible with a screw driver then it can interfere with the accelerator so clearance should be verified. First pic, the accel coupling. Second pic the accel linkage hits hose clamp screw. SHEESH
